Food is very important to my family. Very important. Whenever we get together, before we even all come together, we plan a menu. This short weekend was no exception. My mom and I searched and searched until we had the perfect menu planned for Sunday meals. Brunch, since Amy has late church, and dinner.
On Saturday we had toes done in the morning then did some running around. We left the kids with my nieces and then had sandwiches for a late lunch. Then we went downtown to attend the General Relief Society Meeting. It was wonderful to be in the Conference Center and to feel of the spirit of our Prophet and to be there with my mom and sister.
Afterwards we went out to eat. Sushi. Oh the sushi. It was fabulous. We usually do this when we're all together because there are other members of the fam who aren't fans. Which is okay, more sushi in the world for us.

Isn't it beautiful? Most of the times I can pick a clear favorite but not this time. I loved them all. We also had spring rolls and fried calamari to start, also fab.

Dessert was also fabulous. A mousse-like chocolate cake and ginger creme brule. Of course when it was put in front of us taking a picture of it was the last thing on our minds. Take my word for it, it looked good and tasted better.
So that was just Saturday. Once we got home that night we did start some meal preparations for the next day. The only thing we let her do was grate the cheese.
On to brunch. These little babies were filled with bacon and other yummies. Cream cheese "frosting" finished them off. Isn't everything better with bacon?
Happy together. I'm working on the "Sunrise Smoothie." Strawberries and orange juice. So good.
This is the complete spread. That's not just any bacon, mind you. It's dredged in brown sugar and chili powder. So good! We also made a smoked salmon and spinach quiche. I tell ya, we ate good.
Now for dinner. With the late church we tried to do as many preparations ahead of time and pick things that weren't supposed to take that long to cook. Things don't always go as planned so we still ate kind of late but in my book it was work it! Roasted pork loin, green beans with blue cheese (and bacon, love the bacon!), and orzo with lots and lots of yummies.
We had a few starters to hold us over while dinner was taking a little longer than anticipated. This bad boy was full of crab and avocado and yellow pepper, it was fabulous. We put it on toast. I also made a ceviche with shrimp and scallops and then we made a cream cheese mixture (also for the toast) and topped it off with thinly sliced smoked salmon. They actually all were quite good on toast but we did have a couple of sneaky little men that ate most of the toast. We still ate it.
Dessert oh dessert. We couldn't pick just one. Shockingly enough. So we made three! This pear and almond crostata was made with almond paste for the dough. It was so good.
We also made frozen lemon whip with a blueberry sauce and chocolate pots de creme. To top off the chocolate we made whip cream with cherry jam (from my very own tree) folded in.

I think our mission of spoiling Amy was a success. All of it was so fun. So many fun memories and good good food. If I do say so myself.
