Sunday Drive

Last Sunday, while we were in southern Mo., we decided to go out for a drive. We ended up driving south into Arkansas. I had never been to Arkansas. It was a beautiful drive. With lots and lots and lots and lots of trees. As I followed our route on the atlas I couldn't get over the fact that parts of our drive were marked "scenic" and others were not. It all looked pretty scenic to me!

We were able to search out some of David's ancestors. He has a thing for that. So it was no surprise to me that not far into Arkansas is a little cemetery that he thought he could find. We did have to stop and ask for directions. Fortunately it wasn't too hard to find.

It really was a beautiful cemetery. Something I love about this part of the country is all of the cemeteries have been around for quite some time.

David kept pointing at different directions and say "did you get a picture standing right here, looking that way." He really loves cemeteries. And he really loves searching out his ancestors and he is really good at it.

This guy though has caused him a bit of blood, sweat and tears. Maybe not too much blood and just a few tears but a lot of sweat. He had three wives, kept out living them, and for the longest time David couldn't figure out even who his parents were. Now the mystery comes down to the second wife (the one he comes from) and where they were living and where she died. It was such a breakthrough when he learned about his parents that I know that when the time is ready he'll have another one.

If it weren't for the semi-sad state of our kids he probably could have stayed there for a long long time. He might still be there!

As long as he doesn't take up permanent residency in one any time soon!
