21 Things About The Boy

 

1. His favorite color is orange. It’s become more than just a color. It’s a statement.

2. He is very possessive. And not just of his things. When he sees someone touching an item that does not belong to them he makes it known to all. And how.

3. He’s even possessive of me. When his dad is getting just a little too close he pushes him away, puts his arm around me, leans in close and says, “hi, mama.”

4. When I pick him up after school he usually will ask for an accounting of which ever family members aren’t in the car.

5. He often puts people in line, literally, as he is on the way to his line at school in the morning.

6. When at home he can often be seen wearing a cape. And sometimes holding a wand

7. One of his jobs is to let the dogs outside. Sometimes he gets distracted and stays out there with them.

8. His favorite food, besides ice cream and cookies, is pizza

9. Speaking of cookies he’s started asking his dad, always the dad, for a cookie during the first meeting of church, just the first.

10. Sometimes will speak in sentences. The one I hear most often: Ruth hit me

11. Still prefers cold water. Especially for showers.

12. Also everyday after school one of the first thing he says in the car, “no school!” Except on the days that there really is no school he argues with me and says, “yes, school!” over and over and over

13. He opens doors and lets me go first. Such a gentleman.

14. Always has been, always will be, a climber

15. He tries to get out of putting his laundry away. One day I found a basket of clean clothes in his closet. I enquired after them to his father, who the day before was supposed to make sure he put them away. He thought The Boy had done it. Tactfully they were tucked away with the closet doors closed so as to make it look like they were put away. Sneaky.

16. He likes to help LM off the bus. He takes her backpack and then says, “Good day, Mary?”

17. I might have mentioned this before, but, he doesn’t like rides

18. He yells at the dogs when they bark. Which sounds like it would be endearing. But it’s not.

19. Has a thing for hats. Not mater the type. No matter the season.
