I had every intention of posting Christmas pictures the rest of the week. But, as it usually, does life and stuff happens. I’ve had a few experiences lately that have reminded me of that need to document that life. The seemingly small and insignificant as well as the magical week long Christmas celebrations. So I’m interrupting Christmas recollections with a bit of the right now.
Yesterday I took The Boy and Little Miss to the Audiologist and ENT doctor. It was their routine check-up. They had their hearing tests done first. This time the Audiologist tried something different and took them back by themselves, instead of me going in with them. I wasn’t sure how they would handle it but I welcomed doing something different. They both did amazing. They responded when they were supposed to in appropriate ways and did exactly what they were supposed to do. Except towards the end LM declared she was done and that was the end. Despite this the audiologist was able to determine that she not longer needs to wear her hearing aid in her right ear. With a chance that the same maybe true for the left ear. That ear needs some cleaning out and retesting.
The cleaning couldn’t happen yesterday because the right tools (for their tiny ears) weren’t available. Which led me to discuss another concern with the doctor. The girl has not been sleeping well. Most nights she is awake in the middle of the night. And if she does make it through the night without wandering about the house she is awake at a very early hour. It’s exhausting for this mother. I’ve had this feeling that there was a reason behind it and when I listen to her sleep I’m reminded of those gasping for air sounds I’ve heard before. The girl needs her tonsils out. I wasn’t sure how the doctor would feel about it, sometimes doctors have opinions you know, but he was all for it. Didn’t question me for one moment. It was such a relief. Her surgery isn’t schedule for another month and her and I will get to spend the day and night in a hospital but here’s hoping it will lead to better night’s sleep for all of us!
The Boy was no less of a rock star. While he didn’t get the same “take your hearing aids out” report he still got a very consistent one. Which I’m equally pleased with.
It was a long visit but an encouraging one.
One I couldn’t help heave a sigh of relief when we were done.

Yahoo! I wondered who's report I was looking at. I'm sure everyone will sleep so much better once those nasty tonsils are out.
Happy day!!
Good news. Good luck with the tonsillectomy!
