Last week I did finally get the Christmas decorations down and packed up. It took me all day but I did it. And now our front room looks a little empty. And so it goes.
As I was packing things up I couldn’t help but thinking about our Christmas holiday. It really was magical. Perhaps that was why it took me so long to pack things up. Yes, that sounds good.
We were lucky enough to have my parents come. It was the first Christmas I’ve had with my parents in 10 years. (How crazy is that?) They came in the Saturday before the big day. We let the kids stay up until they got here. Only one made it, though. Any guesses on who that might be? We roused The Boy the best we could and when he came too enough to see who was here (the very people he’d been asking about since about 6:30 that morning) he was all smiles and fell into their arms in sleepy hug.
The next couple of days were busy with church, meals and meal preparations and all things last minute Christmas, and our annual Christmas caroling (which the parents did brave despite the very cold temperatures). It was crazy busy but crazy wonderful at the same time.
I’ll let the pictures do most of the talking and will probably have to break this up into more than one post.
Brining the turkey I forgot to take pictures of when it was all done. Take my word for it, it was fabulous!
Giving Papa a massage (not choking him, I promise)
Cookie time!
Such a happy girl. No?
Opening one present on Christmas Eve, just like I got to do when I was growing up.
Then, once they were in their new jammies, we read the Christmas story and used one our our Nativities as props.
I guess I thought it was more enjoyable than some.
After that we got kids snug in their beds and once they were good and asleep we opened up Santa’s workshop and got busy.
And let me just say that workshop was open late…
