Branson or Bust

For the Fourth of July weekend we went down to Branson with David's parents. It was so nice to get away. It takes about six hours to get there so for the trip down we planned a few stops to break things up for the kids. They really did well for the long day of traveling. By the time we got there, though, they were quite ready to be out of the car for a while.

Our first stop was at a market in Kansas City to get kosher salami and pickles. I can't even describe how good it is. We also picked up a few treats for the ride. The kids got little pastry cookie things, David got a variety of olives from the olive bar and I got a little tray of sushi. It was a beautiful thing! They tasted even better than they looked.
Next we had to stop and get some cheese.
David was in heaven. Rows of cheese and you can get samples of almost all of them. It was amazing that I could get a picture with just him. The place was packed and to even get up the the cheese you had to get threw a wall of taste testers.

We found a favorite. Smoked Cheddar. So good. I put it in some scrambled eggs one morning while we were there. They were amazing. On the way home we stopped at a store that also sold Osceola Cheese just so we could get some more. With that cheese and the kosher salami, a match made in heaven I tell you. I think I hate that for lunch for almost every day we were there.
We had to stop for a quick photo op.
Before we knew it, though it was time to get back in the car and move on to our next adventure. Look how thrilled she is to get back in the car.

Before we did, though, David got them some chocolate milk. Pleased as punch, I tell you, pleased as punch.
Next it was on to Lambert's Cafe. Quite the place. We have been there once before but I don't remember quite the wait that time. When we got there we were told there would be an hour and 45 minute wait. We ended up only waiting an hour and 20 minutes. This was what it looked like when we walked up.
The kids did surprisingly well for such a long wait. With so many people around they had plenty of people to stare at. What can I say, they're people watchers.

We were so happy when it was our turn. Especially since there was an entire high school baseball team there waiting to be seated. So happy we got in before them!
Their claim to fame is the "throwed rolls." I was in a terrible place for picture taking. And eating, for that matter. Anyway I was able to get a picture with a roll in flight.

The throwing and catching gets tricky because they are fresh from the oven. The rolls are very yummy and the kids would have probably been content just to have that for dinner. All the food was good and we were quite full by the time we left.

From there it didn't take us long to get to the resort we were staying at. It was a long day of traveling but with lots of fun adventures!
