A husband and wife in our community have opened their home for kids to come and see the guy with the red suit. They have turned thier shed into a visiting space for Santa to hang out. Families can come and bring their own camera and take as many pictures as they'd like, get a candy cane, kids can put in those last minute requests and best of all it's all free. David had seen flyers all over town so we decided it was time to go and check it out. We were not disappointed! Besides there was something very specific Miss Thing needed to ask him...
The Boy was first. Mainly because he is the fastest. The other night we had talked about going and visiting with Santa and were asking the kids what it was that they wanted. The Boy kept signing airplane. So with a little coaching he and Santa had a little chat about that.
What can't be seen in this picture, because she was standing just outside of the frame, was Miss Thing. The whole time The Boy was having his visit she was standing as close as she could get. Waiting ever so paitently for her turn.
For those that know this girl, have benifited from her orneriness, will think that this picture has been photoshoped. She doesn't opened her mouth to speak, let alone smile, around people that she has never seen before or is unfamiliar with. See Justin? You've got to try the candy thing with her! Like I mentioned before, there was something very specific she wanted to ask him. We had talked a lot about this. Becuase she has talked a lot about wanting this particular thing. She has probably never been so ready for something in her entire life. And what was this thing she could wait no longer to ask him for? A Barbie. The girl wants a barbie and has been talking non-stop about it for a while now. I'm not sure where she learned about them. She told me the other day that Dad was going to get her one. When I questioned him on it he denied all accusations. Then later that evening he was asking the two big kids what they wanted Santa to bring them and her response was "a Barbie." I finally asked her who was going to bring her this Barbie. Her response was to look at her father with those big blue eys, tilt her head and say, with the sweetest voice she could muster, "you bring me a Barbie?" It was then that I lost him. He walked right into her little hand. Didn't even pass Go and there was no $200 collection involved. So as soon as she got on Santa's lap that's what she asked for. I must admit the whole thing has been rather cute. I don't want her to know that, of course.
Finally it was Little Miss's turn. She didn't cry or scream, or even smile and laugh for that matter. She didn't take her eyes off his beard. I think that if she'd hung around too much longer she would have gotten her fingers in it.
It was such a fun visit and I'm so glad we went. The older them kids get the more magical Christmas is becoming. It is so fun to see them discover the wonder of the season!
Wishing you all a Merry Little Christmas!

This is our best Christmas ever too, as the kids are really into it. Although we are having to make sure Santa uses different wrapping paper than us, and we have several 'spies' around the house. By next year it's going to be a real mission!
Merry Christmas to you and your beautiful family :)
These are great Santa shots! What a fun visit.
Those people are so awesome. Their granddaughter went to our school last year and they were always volunteering. I had a chance to sit and talk with "Santa" during a volunteer luncheon.
That is a pretty good gift Miss Thing is asking for :) Has she told you what kind of Barbie?
