It’s officially official. The Girl is finally 5.
We She thought this day would never come.
She’s been “almost” 5 since last July.
But’s it’s finally here. She’s finally 5.
My oh my how you’ve grown.
This morning her dad got her out of bed. She wasn’t quiet ready. But she wasn’t fighting off the persistent birthday wishes either. When she finally came too. We asked her how old she was, “5.” And then held her foot up in my face and said, “My feet are big now.” So much changes on the day you turn 5. According to her. Although I’ve decided not to hold my breath to see how long things will last.
We’re headed off on an adventure today so we’ve been playing all week and did much of our celebrating last night. Complete with a butterfly birthday cake. She requested noodles with cheese (alfredo), strawberries and garlic bread. I threw in some corn on the cob for good measure, seeing as that’s the only vegetable she’ll willingly eat.
You question almost everything I do. You tell me what to do. You argue most thing I ask you to do. These things don’t usually sit well with me in the moment. But when you’re asleep, and quiet, I remember that these are the things that make you you. These are the things that help me to know that you are a fighter. I need a fighter. We all do.
You light up my life. You are my sunshine. I’m so glad you’re mine.
Happy Birthday Missy!
