Back To School

While I have every intention of filling you all in with stories of our summer (and do I ever have tales to tell!) I thought it best not to leave off things things we are living now for later.

Monday was the first day of school for The Boy. Which is why we raced back from California, driving all night and day to get here. I had to drag him out of bed to get up and moving for school that morning, poor kid.
Any one else see an exhausted kid? Even so once I had him up and told him it was a school day. He was all over it. Knew what he had to do. No fighting getting him dressed, fed and out the door. I think he was relieved to go back to some kind of normalcy.

First grade. That's where we are. How did that happen? Can I be old enough to have a kid in first grade? I remember first grade! (I should I did it twice)

A common scene for my weekday mornings. The Boy will almost get to the bus before turning around and running back to me for one more hug and kiss. Love that kid.

See ya later Boy.

Next was Miss Thing's turn. I found out right before we went on our last little bit of something that she was placed in the preschool program that The Boy went to, but as a peer model. We were so excited. We've been doing the dance of joy ever since. To say she was thrilled would be an understatement. She goes in the morning, just two and half hours, four days a week. This week was only two days, since it started on Wednesday. It's like I have a new child. She is so pleasant all most of the time. She thanks me for making dinner. She is willing to help, willing to do things when I ask. It's. So. Lovely.

I had gotten her a back pack a few years ago when I went to an after school sale. The day before school I got it out. She was thrilled and just kept saying "Thank you for getting this for me!"

The jump of joy. That girl loves to jump.

I've been looking forward to be able to do this for so long that it being a reality seems a little impossible. Right before she started I was feeling a little bit of that motherly pull. I kept seeing this in my head.

Which made it very difficult to believe that my baby could be four and old enough to do things like carry a backpack around and go to school.

After a couple of days of school I think I'm over it enough to let her keep going.

Be educated

She seems a little more agreeable to picture taking as well. Nice. Very Nice.

I thought you did kindergarten twice. Glad that everyone is happy to be back in school. I agree with mom, she seems more agreeable about pictures too.
