Christmas Surprise

After all the kids' unwrapping insanity diminished, it was mom's turn. For unwrapping insanity.

David has been talking for about a month how he has gotten me the perfect gift. The thing I really wanted, deep down in my soul. I had no idea what to think as I hadn't consulted with my sould recently. I had no idea what my soul was asking for.

The fact that he didn't spill the beans must here be also noted. That is not always his strong suit. Although a couple of weeks ago he told me he got an email saying that something wasn't going to be coming until later. Then Christmas Eve when he came home, from delivering gifts to his parents house, he told me that everyone was telling him he was doing things wrong. He couldn't tell me much more than that so he just reminded me that whatever it was that he got me was a gift. Then he left the room before I could ask too many probing questions. Although, at this point, I didn't want to know. I liked the idea of a surprise.

So Christmas morning I had little series of gifts. The first was from Little Miss.

A battery. How did she know? Exactly what I needed.

Next was from Miss Thing. She got me a memory card. Excuse the expression.

The Boy got me a battery charger. At this point I'm quite suspicious.

To: Kimberly, The Luckiest Girl In The World. That is how this next gift read. Would you believe he got me a fancy shmancy camera?? I, like the girl with the Barbie, was totally speechless! A Nikon D5000, for those that know what that means.

Because I really didn't, until now. All I knew was it came with an enormous manual. Turns out half of that is in spanish. So it was slightly deceiving. Even so I was quite a bit intimidated. But excited too, at all the possibilities. And the thing that won't be here until next year? The camera case. In case you were wondering.

Once I got everything out my first question: "So is the battery charged?" Then his mom said "See?!" and he said, "That's what everyone says I was doing wrong. I didn't want to open it." So I plugged it in. Once it was all charged then I never put it down. And. That. Is. Why. He didn't have the battery charged for me. He knew I would be needed to help make breakfast and, you know, take care of the kids 'n stuff.

Let the fun begin...

P.S. Don't tell me if I'm holding it wrong
