I Heart Potatoes

The other day the stars aligned. Or in other words, the weather was dry enough, there were no previous egagements and, for the time, school work was caught up. For David. So he was finally able to get out in the garden and dig up potatoes! We thought it would be too late. We've had some cold days here. So we weren't sure what we he would find when we he got knee deep in dirt. Fortunately those little 'taters are hardy little things and can withstand a few cold nights.

We have a system. I supply him with bowls, he fills them up, I empty them out and give them back. When he came to the door with the first round there was a little baby sitting right on top that captured my heart. Literally!

Can you believe it? A heart shaped potato. In my very own garden. Out of my very own Kansas dirt. I love this kind of stuff.

Everyone wanted a turn with the potato. This is what we do for fun at our house. I love my boy's hands. Don't you? He was the best model. But was a lot little put out when it was time for Miss Thing to have a turn with the potato. Some people's kids fight over things like toys or markers, mine fight over heart shaped potatoes.

Miss Thing had a harder time holding still. She kept wanting to lean over, giving me a nice shot at the back of her head.

So now I have a heart-shaped potato sitting on my counter. It's so cute I don't know what to do with it. Aside from having multiple photo sessions, of course.
