I'm not sure where this comes from but I kind of think I can do just about anything, as far as my Domestic Goddessness is concerned. Especially in reference to matters in the kitchen. Growing up my mom always made fun cakes for us when we were little. I have started to follow suit. The hardest thing for me to do is to decide what I'm going to make. William has become a big fan of cars, the movie, the toys, whatever as long as it has four wheels. He carries them around with him in whatever container he can find. A suitcase, backpack, Tupperware, you name it. I figured this should be my inspiration for his cake. I was so proud of it I decided it needed its own blog post, instead of just throwing a picture or two in with the previous post. It needs it's own space, I think, to really appreciate it from the beginning.
So here goes...
Here we go, things are starting to take shape.
Now my creative juices are really flowing!
It got even cuter when the candles were added.
Best of all The Boy loved it! Oh joy!

Love it! It is very Car-esk. He and Sam would have a ball together with all the Car's stuff we have.
What a great Cake!!!!
Lightning McQueen...move over...Oh how clever! I am very impressed
You did a great job!! Very cute! A little trick I have picked up on in my few years of cake decorating that helps with the crumbliness (is that a word?) is to add a box of instant pudding to the cake mix as well as an extra egg, otherwise follow the directions on the box (okay assuming you are using a box cake). It makes it more dense, thus less crumbs, and it's also really yummy!! PS The post about William was so sweet, I think I want him to come live at my house!
Nice work Kimboya, I also have the compulsion to make fancy cakes for my kids. Cars was Ethan's second birthday so I know what you went though. It looks great and I am sure it tasted great too.
Once I tried to make a Thomas the Tank Engine for Grayson's birthday. Your cake turned out a lot better than mine. Maybe I'll get brave and try adding the pudding mix next year. Hope your kids get feeling better.
Kim, I am so glad I found you! I should e-mail you sometime about my birth story with Benjamin. Both he and I were within minutes of dying (my uterus and uterine artery ruptured) and it's amazing I still have my uterus, although I may not be able to have any more kids. You are seriously amazing and I've loved reading your blog entries. Good therapy huh??
Love,
Heidi
