It's Jolly Holiday With Mary

Okay so we were watching Mary Poppins this morning and that title seemed to fit.
I felt like I should give an update on our little Mary. We went to Kansas City yesterday to visit with a Pediatric Cardiologist. She had an Echo-cardiogram done a few weeks ago and a few small holes were found. At first this didn't bother me too much, William had a hole in his heart at birth and closed on its own after two years. As the time drew nearer to our trip to Kansas City the more nervous I became. I had to keep reminding myself that if something was terribly wrong she would be showing signs of that by now.
Fortunately it was good news. There is one, maybe two holes in between the bottom two chambers of her heart. The Dr. wasn't sure if there were really two or if it was one that her body was already starting to lay down tissue over it so it appeared to be two. There is also a hole in between the upper two chambers. There is a possibility that there are two holes there as well but it was hard to tell. These holes have the most potential for trouble. Because of the difference in pressure in between the two chambers a hole between them will mean that more fluid will be taken to her lungs. With such small holes there the Dr. didn't think it would affect her too much. But as cold and flu season comes along we'll have to be extra careful, it won't be any easier for her to get sick it will only mean that she could have a harder time with it.
The Dr. gave us a few things to watch for (heavy breathing and sweating while she is eating) and then asked that we see her again in a couple of weeks for another echo to be done. Hopefully that will show progress being made.
We felt such a relief after seeing the Dr. This, as well as the experiences our family has had in the past month, has only made me more grateful for the power of prayer. I feel like I am evidence, if only to myself, that prayers are not always answered in the way we think they will be. The important thing to remember, though, is that they are answered we only have to make sure we are listening for the answer.

I am so glad that she is doing so well! We will keep you and your family in our prayers. I'm sure things are hard but I hope that each day gets a little bit better!
